FWR sets the new robot design standard for harsh environments: by leveraging its proprietary technology, FWR develops robotic arms that are suitable for any hostile environment, delivering unmatched safety, reliability, and efficiency. Our robotic solutions, characterized by high performance and cost-efficiency, are also versatile and able to meet the requirements of various use-cases and settings. These robotic arms have the characteristics to excel in a wide range of harsh environments, including the subsea world, radioactive zones, explosive areas, and the space.

Fluid Wire Robotics redefines the way robots are made.

FWR’s core technology enables the design of the first fully-electric force-controllable robotic arm with electric motors and sensors located in a sealed remote actuation unit; the motors’ power is transferred from the remote actuation unit to the robot joints by means of the “Fluid Wires”, our patented high-efficiency transmission system.

Delocalizing, sealing and/or shielding the actuation unit makes our system harsh-environment-proof without requiring additional structural complexity. Our robotic arm has no limits when it comes to interacting with water, pressurized environments, vacuum, reactive means and explosive atmospheres as it is fully passive and no electricity is on board. Additionally, the remote placement of motors also offers cooling and shielding possibilities that are not achievable when motors are located on the arm. All these features are obtained without tradeoffs on performance, thanks to the “Fluid Wires”, which guarantee smooth and efficient operation.
